Hokulani Johnasen – Partner + Legal Advisor

 

Hokulani Johnasen is a Hilo native committed to advancing Native Hawaiian rights and culturally grounded solutions. A graduate of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and the William S. Richardson School of Law, she brings expertise in law, policy, and cultural leadership.

 

As Chief Operating Officer of Sig Zane Designs, one of Hawaiʻi’s most respected Hawaiian clothing brands, Hoku ensures the company’s operations reflect its deep cultural roots and artistic traditions. Previously, she served as a Senior Policy Advisor for Congressman Kai Kahele, where she played a key role in Native Hawaiian advocacy, including drafting legislation to reduce blood quantum requirements for Hawaiian Home Lands successorship, safeguarding generational rights for Native Hawaiians.

 

As a partner at Kōnane Consulting, Hoku provides legal, cultural, and strategic guidance critical to the firm’s work. Her ability to navigate complex legal frameworks while honoring Hawaiʻi’s values makes her an essential asset to organizations seeking meaningful, community-driven solutions.
